Blinds or curtains — which is better for your home?
Blinds and curtains serve different needs. Neither is universally better. The right choice depends on the room, the window, and what matters most to you.
Blinds are better for:
Small rooms where curtains would take up wall space. Kitchens and bathrooms where fabric curtains would absorb moisture and grease. Windows with limited clearance above or to the sides. Precise light control where you want to angle slats rather than just open or close. Modern, clean interiors where a minimal look suits the style.
Curtains are better for:
Large windows where floor-length fabric creates a dramatic look. Cold rooms where heavy lined curtains add insulation. Period properties where curtains suit the architecture. Bedrooms where you want a soft, cosy feel. Rooms where you want to add colour, pattern, or texture as a design feature.
You do not have to choose one or the other. Many homes mix both. Blinds in the kitchen and bathroom, curtains in the living room and master bedroom. Some people layer a sheer roller blind behind curtains for daytime privacy while keeping the curtains for evening warmth.
On cost, basic roller blinds are cheaper than made-to-measure curtains. But high-end shutters cost more than most curtains. The range is wide on both sides.
We supply both blinds and curtains, all made to measure. Book a free consultation to see samples in your home.
