Are made-to-measure blinds better than ready-made?
Ready-made blinds are cheaper up front, but made-to-measure blinds almost always give a better result, because they are built to fit your exact window rather than the nearest standard size.
The biggest difference is the fit. Windows are rarely perfectly square or a standard size, so a ready-made blind usually leaves gaps at the sides, sits unevenly, or has to be cut down at home — which often spoils the finish and the operation. A made-to-measure blind covers the window neatly, blocks more light at the edges, and operates smoothly.
You also get far more choice with made-to-measure: hundreds of fabrics and materials, blackout and thermal options, child-safe controls, and styles suited to each room. Ready-made ranges are limited.
Quality and lifespan tend to be higher too, so a made-to-measure blind often works out better value over time even though it costs more at first.
Ready-made can make sense for a standard-sized window on a tight budget or a short-term let. For everything else, made-to-measure is worth it. We measure every window and include fitting free.
