Coventry Blinds & Shutters

How much do electric blinds cost?

Electric blinds cost more than manual versions because of the motor and controls, but the gap has narrowed in recent years. As a rough guide, a motorised blind typically costs £80 to £200 more per blind than the same blind operated by hand, depending on the motor and how it is controlled.

Battery-powered motors are the most affordable and the easiest to fit, as they need no wiring. Hard-wired motors cost more and are best planned during building or renovation work. Adding smart-home control through Alexa, Google Home, or an app may involve a hub, which is a one-off extra.

The blind itself still affects the price — a large roller costs less to motorise than a wide set of shutters or several conservatory roof blinds.

Electric blinds are most worthwhile for hard-to-reach windows, large or heavy blinds, and homes where convenience or accessibility matters. They are also safer in homes with young children, as there are no cords.
