Aluminium or faux wood Venetian blinds — which should I pick?
Aluminium venetian blinds are lightweight, slim, and modern. Faux wood venetians are thicker, warmer in appearance, and feel more like real timber. The right choice depends on the room.
For kitchens and bathrooms, aluminium is usually better. The slats are waterproof and wipe clean easily. They do not warp in humid conditions. Aluminium blinds also have a slimmer profile, which suits smaller windows where a bulky blind would look out of proportion.
For living rooms and bedrooms, faux wood often looks better. The wider slats give a more substantial feel that suits larger windows. Faux wood also provides better insulation than aluminium because the material is denser.
Faux wood has one clear advantage over real wood: it handles moisture without warping. This makes it a good compromise if you want the timber look in a bathroom or kitchen where real wood would suffer.
On cost, aluminium venetians are the more affordable option. Faux wood sits between aluminium and real wood in price. Real wood is the most expensive of the three.
Both types are available in a wide range of colours and finishes. Aluminium comes in metallic and matte finishes. Faux wood comes in painted and wood-grain options that closely mimic oak, walnut, and white-stained timber.
We carry both types and can bring samples to your home. Measuring and fitting is free.
