Coventry Blinds & Shutters

What are the best blinds for a nursery?

For a nursery, the two priorities are darkness and safety. The best choice is a cordless blackout blind, ideally blackout roller or Perfect Fit, so the room can be darkened for naps and night-time sleep without any hazard from cords.

Blackout fabric blocks almost all light, which helps babies and young children settle and stay asleep, especially during lighter summer evenings and early mornings. For the darkest result, fit the blind wider than the recess or add side channels to reduce light gaps.

Safety is essential. Looped cords and chains are a known risk for young children, so choose cordless, motorised, or Perfect Fit blinds that have no hanging cords at all. Perfect Fit blinds clip into uPVC frames and sit flush, with nothing for a child to reach.

Avoid long curtains or anything a toddler could pull down near a cot. Position furniture away from the window so a child cannot climb up to the blind.

We fit child-safe, made-to-measure nursery blinds with no exposed cords, and measuring and fitting are included.
