Coventry Blinds & Shutters

How do you clean wooden blinds?

Wooden blinds are easy to keep clean with regular, gentle dusting. The key rule is to avoid water, which can stain, warp, or crack real timber over time.

For everyday upkeep, tilt the slats closed and dust along them with a microfibre cloth, a soft duster, or the brush attachment on your vacuum. Then tilt the slats the other way and repeat so both faces are covered. Doing this every week or two stops dust building up.

For marks or sticky spots, use a barely damp cloth with a tiny amount of mild soap, wipe the spot, then dry it straight away with a clean cloth. Never soak the slats or use lots of water.

Avoid polish, bleach, and harsh chemicals, as they can damage the finish. A wood-safe cleaner or a little furniture wax used sparingly can revive the slats occasionally.

If your blinds are in a room with steam or moisture, faux wood is a better long-term choice as it can be wiped with a damp cloth. We supply both, with free measuring and fitting.
