Coventry Blinds & Shutters

Are wooden blinds a good choice for bedrooms?

Wooden blinds work well in bedrooms because the adjustable slats let you control exactly how much light enters the room. They give a warm, natural look that suits most bedroom styles.

The slats can be tilted almost fully closed to block out streetlights and early morning sun. However, they are not true blackout blinds. Small gaps between the slats will always let some light through. If you need total darkness for sleeping, consider pairing wooden blinds with blackout curtains or choosing a blackout roller blind instead.

Wooden blinds are best suited to bedrooms with normal humidity levels. Avoid them in rooms that get very damp, such as en-suites with poor ventilation. For those spaces, faux wood is a better option because it resists moisture without warping.

One practical advantage is noise. Wooden blinds absorb more sound than aluminium venetians, which can rattle in a breeze. They also provide decent insulation, helping keep the room warm in winter.

We supply wooden blinds in basswood and oak finishes, made to your exact window measurements. Free measuring and fitting is included with every order.
