What are the best blinds for conservatory heat?

Pleated roof blinds with a reflective backing are the most effective option for controlling heat in a conservatory. They reflect solar energy before it enters the room, rather than just blocking light after the heat has already built up.

The roof is where most heat enters a conservatory. Side windows contribute less because the sun hits them at a lower angle. Fitting roof blinds alone can drop the temperature by several degrees on a hot day.

For the roof, honeycomb pleated blinds with a silver-backed fabric perform best. The cellular structure traps air for insulation while the reflective coating bounces heat back towards the glass. These work in both summer and winter, keeping heat out when it is hot and retaining warmth when it is cold.

For side windows, roller blinds or Perfect Fit blinds are a good choice. They are simpler to operate and less expensive than pleated options. Choose a light-coloured fabric to reflect more heat.

Avoid dark-coloured blinds on conservatory roofs. Dark fabric absorbs heat and radiates it into the room, making the problem worse rather than better.

Electric operation is worth considering for roof blinds that are hard to reach. A remote control means you can adjust them without standing on furniture.

We measure and fit conservatory blinds for both roof and side panels. All fitting is included at no extra cost.
