What blinds work best for bi-fold doors?
Perfect Fit blinds are the best option for bi-fold doors. Each blind panel is mounted directly into the door leaf, so when you fold the doors open, the blinds fold with them. Nothing gets in the way.
The key advantage of Perfect Fit on bi-folds is that no drilling is required. The blinds clip into the uPVC frame beading of each door panel. This preserves the door warranty and avoids weakening the frame with screw holes.
Pleated and roller styles are both available in Perfect Fit for bi-folds. Pleated blinds give a neater stack when the blind is raised. Roller blinds offer a slightly wider choice of blackout and patterned fabrics.
An alternative is integral blinds, where the blind sits between two panes of sealed glass inside the door unit. These are maintenance-free and completely child-safe, but they must be specified when the doors are manufactured. They cannot be added afterwards.
Vertical blinds are sometimes used for bi-fold doors, but they only work when the doors are closed. When you fold the doors open, the vertical blind stays behind on its own track. This can look messy and blocks part of the opening.
For the smoothest day-to-day use, Perfect Fit is the clear winner. The blinds move with the doors, stay out of the way when open, and look clean when closed.
We fit blinds on bi-fold doors of any width. Measuring and fitting is free.
